VISA-FREE ACCESS TO SURINAME

Suriname provides visa-free access to 31 nations and India is not among those countries. Indians require a valid visa to travel to Suriname. Hence Indians need to apply for a Suriname Visa before planning a trip to the country.

SURINAME TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Following are different types of requirements you must meet in order to be legally eligible to visit Suriname.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

Travellers must arrange some essential documents if they are planning to fly to Suriname  

These documents are; 

  • A Travel Insurance 
  • A health certificate from an authorized medical institution/professional stating that the traveller is not suffering from any of the following diseases:  
  • HIV-AIDS 
  • Leprosy 
  • Tuberculosis 
  • Venereal Diseases 
  • Yellow Fever  
  •  Other Contagious Diseases 
  • Yellow Fever Vaccine 

In the case of minors, some additional documents need to be submitted. These are; 

  • Birth Certificate highlighting the name of both the parents 
  • A Legalized letter of Consent if; 
  • The minor is travelling with one parent, the letter must be signed and confirmed by the other parent 
  • If the child is travelling alone or without any of the parents, a letter must be signed by both parents. 
  • Death certificate if one or both parents are deceased

COVID RELATED REQUIREMENTS

The Suriname government has not made it mandatory for travellers to be vaccinated against the covid 19 to enter the country. But The unvaccinated travellers will need to fulfil some extra formalities. 

Note; If you have been vaccinated with a vaccine that is not approved by the Suriname Government, then you will be considered Unvaccinated. The vaccines approved by Suriname Government are; 

  • AstraZeneca 
  • Pfizer 
  • Covilo 
  • Covishield 
  • Moderna 

The above vaccines are fully approved by the Suriname Authorities, which means the travellers who have been vaccinated with these vaccines need to present their vaccination certificate only. They do not need to fulfil any other formality.  

Some vaccines are partly approved by the Suriname Authorities. These are; 

  • Sputnik V 
  • Abdala 
  • Soberana 1 
  • Soberana 2 
  • Soberana plus. 

A traveller vaccinated with these Vaccines needs to fulfil some extra requirements to be able to enter the country. These are; 

  • They need to submit a rapid antigen test report to the respective authority. The test must be conducted no more than 3 days after the arrival in Suriname 
  • A PCR test report was conducted not more than 48 hours before the arrival at Suriname.

Right now the vaccines that are being used in India are Covishield and Covaxin. Sputnik V has also been utilized but to a limited extent. Among these three vaccines, only Covishield enjoys the status of being fully approved in Suriname. Hence Indians need to be mindful of the same.

Requirements For Unvaccinated Travelers 

If you are not Vaccinated against covid 19 or vaccinated by a vaccine not approved by the Suriname government, then you will need to provide one of the following documents to the respective authority.

A Negative PCR test Report 

A negative PCR test report, not conducted more than 48 hours before the arrival, needs to be submitted if you are unvaccinated.

A Rapid Antigen Test Report 

 A Rapid antigen test report. The test must not be conducted more than 24 hours before the arrival at Suriname.

A Recovery Certificate 

If the traveller has recovered from the covid 19 in a 180 days time window from their arrival day at the country then they are not required to present any test report. Such travellers need to present a covid recovery certificate. 

Note. Children below 12 years of age do not need to fulfil any of these requirements.
